The ability to attract a diverse group of talented people is crucial to the future of the construction industry. CIRI is continuing its efforts to support key local initiatives.
RI Construction Industry Career Days. Joining forces with RIDOT, the URI Transportation Center, trade unions and participating CIRI member companies, our organization helps to make this two-day event an educational success. Again in 2011, CIRI provided hard hats for approximately 1,000 high school students who attended the event. The 2011 program was held on April 27 and 28 at the RIDOT Midstate Facility in East Greenwich.
URI Annual Transportation Forum. For more than a decade, CIRI has been the financial sponsor for this University of Rhode Island event, which features guest lecturers from Engineering departments of leading U.S. universities. Recent programs included speakers from the University of Texas and the University of Michigan. CIRI member companies participate as exhibitors for these forums.
RWU Heavy/Highway Competition Team. Each year, the Roger Williams University Heavy/Highway Competition Team travels to various regional and national sites. CIRI provides travel support for the team, which is tasked to develop and present an innovative project. The RWU team finished first in the 2009 regional event, and second in 2010.
